Abstract

The following conclusions are reached from this investigation: 1) A close relationship exists between distribution patterns of major groups of organisms and the energy conditions of the environments in which they live. 2) Lithofacies mapping techniques may be effectively applied to the problem of mapping distribution of organisms. 3) Quantitative biofacies mapping will aid in delineation of trends of environments favorable for the formation of stratigraphic traps.
