Abstract

Exposures of thrust and (or) reverse faults are rare in the Gulf Coastal Plain region. One such exposure, the only one personally accounted for by the writer, was uncovered by an excavation on East Front Street. Vertical displacement was 1 ft., 8 in. and horizontal displacement 4 ft. The thrust fault is 2 mi. SW. of the East Tyler salt dome; whereas the small vertical displacement appears to be of little significance, the thrusting itself is important.
