Abstract

Describes exposures of fossiliferous marine strata of Ordovician, Devonian, and Pennsylvanian-Permian age in 13 localities in the southeast Merida Andes. These occurrences, together with data from studies in Colombia and Ecuador, indicate widespread deposition in most periods of the Paleozoic in northwest South America. Silurian strata have not been recorded in Venezuela.
