In two previous issues of this Bulletin3 geological notes were published on the results of nationwide geology examinations offered by the United States Civil Service Commission since 1946. A similar written examination was given on January 9, 1956, and some of the results follow.

A total of 827 individuals took the examination, and 267, or about 32 per cent, passed. In the preceding 10-year period, about 26 per cent of the 11,321 candidates passed. Of those that passed the 1956 examination, 151 (56.5 per cent) had some graduate training; of the remaining 116, 91 were senior students. The eligibles...
