Abstract

Describes the sequence of Permian sediments (mainly shales and sandstones), unconformably overlying andesite flows considered to be lower Permian or older, traversed by deep test wells in central Queensland, discusses the correlation of the beds between wells and with outcrop sections, and comments on the occurrence of potential source and reservoir rocks and structural traps in the region. Small flows of gas and traces of oil have been reported from the Aldebaran sandstone and the Cattle Creek shale.
