Abstract

The presence of allochthonous boulders and slabs of pre-Cretaceous, Cretaceous, and Paleocene rocks in the Paleocene-middle Eocene section of the Barquisimeto region, Lara, Venezuela, is attributed to gravitational sliding of material detached from steep submarine escarpments in the zone of dislocation bordering the subsiding depositional basin.
