Abstract

"The presence of oil at El Mene is due to a late movement which rejuvenated anticlinal folding on a pre-existing eroded axis." An overburden of early Miocene rocks curbed the folding movement, preventing excessive shattering and consequent oil seepage. Producing sand thicknesses average 25 feet, and depth of wells 1,000 feet. Three fields, El Mene, Media, and Hombre Pintado, are described in detail.
