Abstract

The Honda district is in the Magdalena valley, Colombia, about 950 kilometers south of the mouth of the river. Three physiographic provinces are present in the district, the east slope of the Cordillera Central, the Llanos subprovince, and the west slope of the Cordillera Oriental. A former ponding of the Magdalena is named "Lake Hettner." The entire stratigraphic sequence from Oligocene to recent is nonmarine.
