The paper reviewed appeared in the Transactions of the Geological Oil Institute, Moscow, n. s., fasc. 7, 1940. "A well drilled near Syzran on the right bank of the Volga river, USSR, yielded an unusually complete and well preserved record of the stratigraphic distribution of Carboniferous Foraminifera which are reported on in this article. Since the English summary is inadequate, and as the main text of the report is not readily available to most American workers, it is desirable to give here a summary of most of the stratigraphic discussion which appears in the Russian text. The accompanying check list was compiled from the text and from the table opposite page 56. A few comments by the reviewers follow the stratigraphic summary."
