ABSTRACT
Drilling activity in south Texas in 1989 declined 23% from 1988. Exploratory drilling in south Texas (Texas Railroad Commission—RRC—Districts 1, 2, and 4) in 1989 declined 15% from 1988; development drilling declined 25%. New-field discoveries totaled 45, a decrease of 11 from 1988. RRC District 1 had an 11% exploratory success rate, RRC District 2 had a 47% exploratory success rate, and RRC District 4 had a 53% exploratory success rate.
