ABSTRACT
Drilling activity in the northern Rockies in 1989 decreased significantly to 990 wells compared to 1408 wells during 1988. Exploratory drilling resulted in 64 oil wells and 22 gas wells for a success rate of 24.6%. Development drilling resulted in 491 successful wells and 170 dry holes for a success rate of 76.6%.
