Marrs and Raines (1984) illustrated the usefulness and some pitfalls of lineament interpretation using Landsat imagery. This particular view of the earth enables us to recognize relationships of separated geologic features and to speculate on the location of crustal plate boundaries. However, Marrs and Raines’ apparent reliance on lineament concentration contours to define their regional lineaments has certain inherent problems. These problems must be stated so the reader can judge the geologic significance of these lineaments.
