Drilling activity in 1982 in Arkansas, north Louisiana, and east Texas (CSD Districts 1, 9, and 24, respectively) varied from the record high of 1981. Both Arkansas and north Louisiana had decreased development and exploratory drilling, but drilling in east Texas increased 19% from 1981. This was due in part to a 29% increase in development drilling. Exploratory drilling in east Texas decreased 6% from the 1981 level.
