Development of large stratigraphic pools and the search for new reserves of natural gas pushed the number of wells drilled in the northern Rockies in 1975 to a near-record level, 2,412 compared to 1,679 in 1974. The number and average depths of exploratory tests were nearly identical with last year, indicating that exploration continued at a steady pace.
