Facer’s discussion of our paper on magnetic anomalies is most welcome, for it deals with one of the most critical elements in global tectonics. Some of the answers to the points which he raises now have been published (Meyerhoff et al., 1972); but even so, we do not pretend that we have provided all the answers to the complexities of earth tectonics. We expect—and trust—that discussion will continue on what is obviously an open question.
