The Meyerhoffs (1972) are correct in pleading for less blind acceptance of the new global tectonics. Any scientific theory deserves to be debated vigorously, especially during times of rapid acquisition of relevant data. However, a large part of the paper by the “leaders of the opposition” reminds one of the continuing lay opposition to Darwin, 114 years later.
