I thank Donald E. Mills for his comments on our papers (Meyerhoff and Meyerhoff, 1972a, b). There is only one way to improve the studies of global tectonics, whether “new” or “old,” and that is by rigid adherence to the scientific method. This requires an avid search for all evidence, for or against, bearing on the problem under investigation, as Mills stated in the last paragraph of his discussion. We have shown that this basic precept has not been followed by many advocates of plate tectonics.
