No doubt the Meyerhoff rebuttal to “the new global tectonics” (Meyerhoff and Meyerhoff, 1972a, b) will bring a deluge of mail second only to the great flood. However, I think the Meyerhoffs are to be commended for their momentous and articulate research. My main adverse criticism of their rebuttal is that the apparent thoroughness and effort involved overwhelm the average geologists to the extent that he has to get up and shake himself to determine if he still has all his feathers.
