Combining conclusions from different papers on similar subjects can be a confusing exercise, as Howard A. Meyerhoff has demonstrated. Meyerhoff relegates Emery et al. (1970) and me (1970) to those who “utilize drift and plate tectonics in their interpretation of continental margins,” and he detects dissent among us. The two discrepancies between our respective interpretations pointed out by Meyerhoff have concerned me and I welcome this opportunity for discussion.
