A group of diapiric structures off western Sardinia ranges in lateral dimension from 1 to 4 km, and is buried to a maximum depth of 900 m. One unreversed oblique reflection-refraction seismic profile indicates the possible presence of interbedded high- (or low-) velocity thin layers within the sequence of unconsolidated sediments. These layers may be salt from which the diapirs are derived.
