The technical program of the Association’s Semicentennial (51st) Convention was presented on April 25–28, 1966, at St. Louis, Missouri. The program had as its theme, “Frontiers of petroleum geology: old and new.” As a part of this theme, approximately 20 of 28 papers dealt directly with tectonism and sedimentation in many of the world’s great basins. It was the desire and hope of the convention program committee that the theme of the convention would develop a framework of comparison for the different modes of occurrence of petroleum throughout the world.
