ABSTRACT
Exploratory drilling in the Four Corners-Intermountain area decreased slightly from 1964. There were activity in all basins in the area and significant successes in New Mexico and Utah.
The unnamed Gallup discovery south of New Mexico’s Hospah field is indicated to be the most significant wildcat success in the area.
Development drilling showed a greater decrease than exploration drilling. There were good development programs in both the San Juan and Uinta basins.
Exploratory drilling should continue at a good rate through 1966. Two previously dormant areas, the Chaco slope and the north flank of the Uinta Mountains, should receive considerable attention during the year.
