Several changes in stratigraphic nomenclature have been approved by director Frank C. Foley for use by the Kansas Geological Survey.

According to the 1961 Code of Stratigraphic Nomenclature, new or redefined time-stratigrapic and rock-stratigraphic names must be published in a recognized scientific medium. The changes in Kansas nomenclature are here described.
