The article by P. E. Playford and M. H. Johnstone published in the February, 1959, issue of this Bulletin contains errors which combine to give an erroneous impression regarding the oil potentialities of some Queensland sedimentary basins. We shall restrict our remarks to basins with which we are personally familiar, viz., the Bowen, the Maryborough, and part of the Clarence Basin.
