ABSTRACT
Oil production in 1955 showed an increase of 6,363,914 barrels over 1954, from 67,371,349 in 1954 to 73,735,263 barrels in 1955, with the same number of producing days as in 1954. Thirty-three hundred and fifty-five wells were drilled in 1955, and 1,909, or 57 per cent, were successful. Included in this total are 944 exploratory tests, and 293, or 31 per cent, of these were successful. Five hundred and fifty-two new-field wildcats were drilled, and 105, or 19 per cent, were successful.
