ABSTRACT
Wells completed during the year increased 152 in number over 1954. The dry-hole average declined to 31.6 per cent, the lowest since 1946. Both of these favorable conditions are due to the success of hydraulic fracturing, particularly in the Clinton sand. Two geologically important pre-Cambrian tests were completed in western Ohio. Another unsuccessful attempt to discover St. Peter production was made in central Ohio. And, several Clinton sand test wells in Noble and Washington counties, in extreme southeastern Ohio, although not economically productive, will undoubtedly increase interest in further Clinton testing in the eastern border counties, adjacent to the Ohio River.
