In presenting his paper on the in situ origin of the McMurray oil, the writer’s primary purpose was to outline an alternative hypothesis about the actual origin of the oil and its source material, with supporting data and arguments showing that the hypothesis is not out of line with certain geological possibilities which even warrant consideration as probabilities. In order to prevent his own paper becoming unduly long, he did not incorporate a review of the literature bearing on the subject or even include discussion designed primarily to refute certain of the cherished arguments of the migrationists.
