ABSTRACT
Production of oil showed an increase from 67,365,332 barrels in 1953 to 67,371,349 barrels, or 6,017 barrels, although the number of statewide producing days was reduced by approximately 18 per cent. Four thousand and fifty-five wells were drilled in 1954; 2,334 were completed successfully. There were 700 exploratory tests drilled; 247, or 35 per cent, were successful. There were 599 new-field wildcats drilled; 146, or 24 per cent, were successful.
