ABSTRACT
Production of oil increased from 63,078,150 barrels in 1952 to 67,752,674 during 1953. A total of 3,807 tests were drilled in District 9 resulting in 2,020 successful completions. Of the successful tests 235 were exploratory discoveries, 42 of which discovered new fields compared with 51 new-field discoveries in 1952. The discovery rate on all classifications of exploratory holes was 21.9 per cent, with 64.9 per cent of the development wells being successfully completed.
