ABSTRACT
Exploratory activity as well as development drilling increased considerably in Oklahoma during the past year. No major fields were discovered during 1953 and the average initial potential of both exploratory and development wells was less than in 1952. Geophysical activity increased very shghtly while leasing activity decreased considerably over the previous year. Over-all reserves were increased slightly in 1953, partly due to the continuing increase in exploratory and development drilling, but primarily from the increase in secondary-recovery projects. The latter accounted for approximately 17% of total oil produced in the state in 1953 or three times the amount produced by these methods in 1952.
