No oil or gas activity was reported from the Atlantic Coastal Plain between New Jersey and South Carolina during 1952. The recent oil discovery in Alabama resulted in increased activity in Georgia but did not directly affect the region covered in this report.

Gas production continued from Garrett County, although fewer wells were drilled than during 1951. Gas was obtained from both the Oriskany sandstone and the Huntersville chert (Table I).

Exploration for gas continued in Buchanan, Rockingham, and Dickenson counties as shown in Table I.
