The purpose of this note is to report some results of studies on lower Desmoinesian (Middle Pennsylvanian) rocks of Cherokee age in southeastern Kansas and northeastern Oklahoma. Brief mention of some of these rocks has been made by Moore et al. (1951, pp. 99-100).
Rocks included in the Cherokee group of southeastern Kansas range in thickness from about 450 to 500 feet.
