The Carmi pool, producing from Arbuckle dolomite (Cambro-Ordovician), is generally acknowledged to be the most important new pool in Kansas since the discovery of the Peace Creek pool in 1941. It is in northern Pratt County, in Secs. 28-33, T. 26 S., R. 12 W., and Secs. 25 and 36, T. 26 S., R. 13 W.
History.—The Shell Oil Company, Inc., surveyed the area by seismograph in 1941 and purchased leases on all available tracts on the prospect. Subsequently, E. Paul Hatfield promoted the drilling of H. M. Brown “B” No. 1, SW. , SW.
