The presence of crystalline rocks at comparatively shallow depths below the surface in a number of wells of North Central Kansas and the adjacent portion of Nebraska has been indicated recently and described in some detail by Taylor,1 Powers 2 and Wright.3 Careful investigations by the writer, with the assistance of his colleague, Dr. Winthrop P. Haynes, which have included practically all of the reported occurrences of the crystalline rocks, sustain wholly the general conclusions of previous observers.
