Dear Sir:
This committee, which was appointed to attempt the unification of stratigraphic nomenclature for economic reports, first met on July 8. We agreed that the best possible starting point was on those beds lying beneath the “rice” sands and above the Wilcox. Upon comparing notes, we found that for these beds we were using with few exceptions the same criteria for correlation. In every case we were using the first appearance or top range of various marine fossils.
